Online Respirator Medical Clearance for Employees

Before an employee is fit tested or required to use a respirator, the employer must provide a confidential medical evaluation to determine whether the employee is medically able to wear one. KSA Occupational Services offers an online process designed to reduce unnecessary clinic visits and scheduling delays.

How the Online Evaluation Works

Employees complete the OSHA respirator medical questionnaire using the instructions and password supplied by their company administrator. The questionnaire typically takes about 15 minutes. A physician reviews the submitted medical information and determines whether clearance can be issued or additional information is needed.

Confidential Physician Review

Medical information is handled through the evaluation process and reviewed by a physician. Employers receive the written determination needed for the respiratory protection program rather than the employee’s confidential medical answers.

What Happens If More Information Is Needed?

If the reviewer needs clarification or further medical information, the employee will be contacted for follow-up. Clearance should be completed before respirator fit testing or required respirator use.
